Oluwatoyin Atanda is my name; I am the 4th in a family of five. I graduated with a degree in Chemistry Science from Lagos State University and also I have a Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering from Lagos State Polytechnic. I have a professional certification from QAI in Customer Service and a graduate of JCI Africa and Middle East Leadership Academy. I am a Business Manager with LKA FABRICS LIMITED (Official Vlisco Partner in Nigeria). I am also a social entrepreneur and that’s what i do professionally.
In the past two years I have mastered the act of business and sales which would guide me in achieving my set goals and targets. I have shown quite a lot of leadership skills in my personal and business life. One of my greatest successes is my ability to turn my passion into profile and have achieved it through consistent investment in my personal grooming. Whenever there is a criticism and complaint against me I try as much as possible improving on the positive ones and thrash the negative ones. Learning is a continuous process, and that has help to improve my management style over time. I try as much as possible balancing my work life with other obligation by setting my priorities right.
As a leader, I have shown quite a lot of leadership skills in my personal and business life. I do have a team, and what keep them together is through Dedication, Commitment, Determination and Personal effectiveness. Definitely, my team members we are always motivated when working together to achieve a great result. I love working with team, I leverage on other people’s strength when needed.
These are the word that describes my experience so far in life. My experience so far about life in general both (negative and positive aspect) are Determination – Enrolling for two degrees at the same time in two separate higher institutions was very challenging as a young lady, for me it was a thing I wanted to do because I keep asking myself why not.
My drive all through seven years was the determination to achieve the impossible. Joining JCI in my final year made me realize my inner strength, I realized I was more of a sales person than an engineer or a chemist, I was determined to be a successful sales person and over the years I have improved and shown the world my capabilities. Fearless – over the years, there have been various obstacles as a young lady growing in organizations but I have realized that I don’t need fear to avoid unnecessary danger – just a minimum of intelligence which is a part of me and common sense.
Originality – there can never be another me; I have never had any reason to imitate others kind of lifestyle or be affected by the social class of my associates, colleagues or friends. Originality made me bold enough to face any obstacle in life and grow beyond norms. My originality helped me grow faster within two months in the organization I presently work from a marketer to a manager, humility in my character made leadership opportunities easier for me as I was an humble follower and enthusiastic young lady willing to learn something from everyone I converse with. What I have learned the most from my work experience are peoples management and every experience has channeled me to who I am today.
I spend some of my free time volunteering for (JCI) Junior Chamber International an organization that empowers young people to create positive change in their communities. I see myself five years from now living the life I’ve always dreamed of and my goal is to be a renowned entrepreneur with my own business empire. To me, Happiness is free so I live everyday like it is my last with no worries or regrets. I am known for excellence and my greatest satisfaction is Service to Humanity. My ability to turn my passion into profit is through consistent investment and personal grooming.
JCI Nigeria is part of JCI which is community of young persons’ taking action and creating impact in their communities in their little way. Being an active member of JCI Nigeria; JCI is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with nearly a quarter of a million members and millions of alumni.
