On the 24th February 2018 the Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCI) Lagos Chapter members made it a lighter morning by having “Breakfast with CEO” session with Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo the profound training lawyer, professional and member of the Nigerian Bar Association & Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), the host is the Managing Director/CEO of STL Trustee Limited located in Lagos, Skye Bank Building 30, Marina.
Those present at the moderate gathering are: JC Oladele Opeyemi – President, JC Olaolu Owoyemi – Vice President, the host executives, JC’s Lagos Chapter members: Feyikemi Akinyode, Afolabi Olalere, Akindele Oyeyenu, Abdulwaheed Idiagbon, Kolawole Fatimoh, Laolu Owolabi, Bose Owolabi, Toyin Olaogun, Akinlabi Hassan, Akanji Halimah, Kazeem Simiat . T, Mustapha Taiwo. O, Elawure Oluwashola, Olasunkanmi Ayinde, Alabi Gold. M, Chukwudi Theophilus-David, Ajibola Adetutu, Fawehinmi Akinniyi, Sarumi Olusegun, Fatimah Adeyemi and Yusuff K . Khadijah, and other attendees: Oyebola Eniayewu, Giwa ‘Expensive’ Oluwaseyi and John Gift Edmund.
After a brief introduction by each person’s present; the JCI Lagos Chapter President as well welcome everybody to the meeting, – then brought forward activities the JCI members have lately imparted in each communities in the city of Lagos state “JCI have been in Nigeria for about 60 years, there have been so many projects we run every year” he said.
It was stated that the recent activities among others that JCI Lagos chapter have done around communities are to provide free healthcare since some of their members are comprises of pharmacist and Doctors who are ready to give to the community on a free will, “we started with general hospitals in Ikate later we went to Oregun then in 2017, we went to health centers to renovate, we painted, gave both old and young people drugs for their usage, as well had an ‘Active Citizen’ discussion with them”. Apart from community developments JCI Lagos Chapter have span their programs to national affairs which have bring about the economy and campaign on using sit belt and extinguisher, and this was in partnership with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) the campaign was taken around Lagos City in the year 2012 respectively.
The JCI Lagos Chapter funding structure; the President pointed it clear that each members are being task, “we task ourselves annually, but co-operate organizations support us with their product just to support our funding scheme as an individual and member”. To the hearing of everybody the President proceeded – the benefit JCI member gain is, it gives every member the platform where they can get a project, learn on the job and gain experience; while other benefit, training project on public speaking this include developing every member in terms of articulation and particularly participating in any leadership role.
“Breakfast with CEO” was beyond a breakfast event with the gathering of young people who wants to learn about running a business organization; for Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo took every person on a retrospect into her background, which made it more interesting and inspirational. Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo had been in the legal profession for about a decade – “I wanted a broader responsibility, I needed another environment, during that time being a banker was very fashionable and a big deal, but I never wanted to go deep because I love the legal profession. I wanted something that would still keep me alive. So I got this opportunity to venture into the trustee industry, there’s clear overlap between ‘Law & Trust’, the concept itself emanated from law which I later found out to be a clear idea of what I wanted to do” she said.
The 2-hour informal interactive session with Mrs. Funke Ekundayo MD/CEO STL Trustee Limited was informative for it broad around personal management, professional development, strategic management, career development and business. Series of questions were being asked by the young people and those questions were answered well perfect. Exchange of gift was given out by the president on behalf of JCI Lagos Chapter members to the CEO, while STL Trustee Limited reciprocate to all members, later a group photograph was taken by all attendees with the amiable CEO
